Bachelor of Education (SPECIAL EDUCATION) Programme -ODL
BEd Special Education details- -ODL Programme is being offered through distance mode by Dr. BRAOU, Hyderabad. It aims to develop professionals for special education within a broad perception of education in the twenty first century. The programme is intended to train the professionals to enable them to imbibe knowledge, understanding, attitude and skill to impart education effectively to the Children with Special Needs (CWSN).
Objectives of the BEd Special Education programme
The B.Ed. (SE)-ODL Programme of Dr. BRAOU aims to enable the Trainee Teacher to achieve the following objectives.
- To develop a broad perspective of the role of specially trained professional as an agent of change in the prevailing and emerging Indian Society in the ensuring era of IT revolution and globalisation.
- To develop confidence among the learners about their potentialities, abilities and usefulness to save the society with a sense of freedom, self respect and dignity.
- To develop professional competencies among the learners to educate the different disabled group.
- To understand various methods and approaches of organising learning experiences of disabled group of learners in disability area for inclusive/integrated/special education set up.
- To understand and develop the ability to manage special schools.
- To develop competencies to organise various co-curricular and extracurricular activities, especially for differently abled children.
Duration of the BEd Special Education programme
- Minimum period to complete the programme is 2 ½ Academic Years (i.e. 5 Semesters).
- Maximum period to complete the programme is 6 Academic Years.
Eligibility
- The Candidate should be an Indian Citizen.
- Candidates with at least 50% marks either in the Bachelors Degree (B.A./B.Sc./B.Com./B.C.A./B.Sc. (Home Science)/BBM/BBA/B.E/B.Tech. with specialization in Science and Mathematics)or any other qualification equivalent thereto, are eligible for admission into the programme.
- For BCA candidate must pass intermediate with concern subjects to opt the methodology.
- The candidates belonging to SC/ST/BC/PH should have secured a minimum of 40% marks in the qualifying examination.
- However, Weightage will be given to the candidates fulfilling any one of the following conditions:
- Parent of a child with disability, possessing Disability Certificate issued by the Competent Authority.
- Person with disability possessing Disability Certificate issued by the Competent Authority.
- Possession of any RCI approved Diploma
- The reservation for SC/ST/BC/PWD categories shall be as per the rules in vogue.
- EWS quota seats will be allotted to the eligible candidate.
- Note: As per the GOMS No: 92 and GOMS NO.13,& RCI norms the candidates who passed MBBS/BDS/BPT/BAMS/BL/LLB/B.Pharm/BHMT/BVSC/B.Sc.(AG)/BA(Languages)/BOL, BMR, B.Sc ASLPetc. and other such Professional and Job Oriented courses are not eligible for admission into B.Ed. SE Programme.
BEd Special Education Programme is offered in three Specializations
- Visual Impairment(VI)
- Hearing Impairment(HI)
- Intellectual Disability (ID)
The candidate has to choose any one of the Specialization for admission.

For Entire Programme of two and half years (i.e. 5 Semesters)Total fee Rs. 40,000/- (Rupees Forty Thousand only) Rs.30.000/-(Rupees Thirty Thousand only) for tuition fee + Rs. 10,000 (Rupees Ten thousand only) towards Learner Support Services fee) to be paid at the time of Admissions.
